We are the Grazer Akrosphäre – a place for community, creation, and training in contemporary circus arts, with a special focus on partner and aerial acrobatics.
What unites us is more than sport or technique: It’s trust. Courage. Movement. Expression. And the feeling of creating something together.
With around 150 members, our community has grown steadily in recent years – and with it, our desire for a space that is not just a training venue, but a home for circus arts in Graz.
Our circus center already exists – on Puchstrasse near the Taggerwerke. And now we want to take the next big step: We’re building a stage in the circus center.
Why this stage is so important
A stage is not simply a platform with lights.
It is a place where circus arts become visible – and touch people.
… With this stage, we want to create space for:
Professional contemporary circus productions – from Graz, Austria, and around the world
- Open Stages – so artists can experiment and showcase their work
- Residency Showings – for creative processes and the development of new pieces
- Children’s performances – so our children’s classes can also experience real stage moments
- Audience – approximately 80 people, up close and personal, right in the middle of the action
This stage will be a place where you don’t just watch, but feel the performance. A place where ideas are born, grow, and can finally be shared.
Our goal: €40,000 by summer 2026
To make this stage a reality, we aim to raise €40,000 by summer 2026.
The total cost includes not only the stage construction, but also everything needed to create a true performance space:
- Stage design and construction
- Lighting and sound
- Curtain and stage environment
- Seating for approximately 80 spectators
- as well as the necessary technical and organizational implementation.
We want to build the stage so that it functions professionally – while retaining the warm, intimate Akrosphäre spirit.
Why we need your support
Because we believe that contemporary circus arts deserve a place in Graz.
A place for:
- creative experiments
- personal development
- community
- and those magical moments when you surprise yourself
This stage isn’t just being built for us – but for everyone who loves, wants to experience, or discover circus.
Especially in times when cuts are being made to arts, culture, social services, and sports, public funding is often no longer sufficient to make new infrastructure possible. We won’t give up – now more than ever.
Every contribution makes a real difference:
for creative education, for community engagement, and for a vibrant circus scene in Graz. This stage is only possible thanks to your support.
How you can help: Every contribution brings us closer to the stage.
It might be a small amount. It might be a large one. But together, it creates something lasting.
Donation ideas:
€20 → a contribution towards lighting and atmosphere
€50 → a contribution towards sound and technical equipment
€100 → a piece of the stage for future performances
€250+ → a big step towards the grand opening
And if you can’t donate right now:
Share the campaign – it helps us tremendously.

❓ Why does the project cost approximately €40,000?
Because it’s not just about a platform, but about a space where shows are truly possible:
With lighting, sound, atmosphere, and a reliable, long-lasting design.

Our goal is completion by the end of 2026.
Construction will be implemented in sensible phases – depending on how quickly we raise the necessary funds.

Yes.
